Infants, children and youth confront a wide variety of stressful and potentially traumatic events that can impact their ability to cope. These experiences can lead to feelings of fear, confusion, loss of control and isolation that can inhibit their development and have negative effects on their physical and emotional health and well-being.
This position will help children and youth adjust to life in shelter, provide assessment and individualized therapeutic care, prepare children for potential forensic interviews and medical exams, and cope with the trauma of experiencing domestic violence. The goal is to enrich the experience of the child while they are guests of our program, through play, therapeutic intervention, trauma-informed practice, and relationship.
