Dancing with the Stars Shasta Style 2023 Raises Over $84,000 for Community

As the autumn leaves painted Shasta County in hues of gold and red, One SAFE Place hosted a grand finale to a cherished tradition - 'Dancing with the Stars Shasta Style.'

Held on October 21, 2023, in the historic Cascade Theatre, the fundraiser celebrated its 14th and final* year supporting One SAFE Place (OSP) since its founding in 2008.

In 2024, OSP will merge with the Children’s Legacy Center (CLC), ushering in a new chapter and a comprehensive rebranding effort.

“This year’s finale celebrated how beloved the fundraiser has become to the community over the years and how closely it's tied to One Safe Place's heart, history, and legacy,” said Kimberly Johnson, CLC CEO and interim CEO for OSP. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of our team, volunteers, sponsors, and dancers, we raised $84,541 to help support healing and recovery in our community. The funds significantly supported local domestic violence survivors, making each twirl, dip, and spin on the dance floor a step toward a safer and brighter future. Future events will be hosted under our newly merged and rebranded nonprofit.”

Local celebrities donned sequins and sparkles and teamed up with professional dancers to showcase their ballroom, Latin, and contemporary dance prowess. This year, six dynamic teams took to the stage:

●    Sam Chimenti, News Reporter for KRCR TV, dancing with Shelbie Gratteau
●    Dr. Paul Davis, Osteopathic Family Physician for the Redding Rancheria and the Chief of Medicine for the Tribal Clinics, dancing with Leaha Hernadez
●    Christy Davis, VP Redding Regional Banking Manager for Golden Valley Bank, dancing with Jordan Stevens
●    Ericka Jones, Digital Creator and the CEO and Owner of ToGather Tables, dancing with Dakota Wahl
●    Tessa Borquez, Owner of Alacrity Destination Services; Redding Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, dancing with Josiah Moran
●    Chris Caldwell, Fiber Product Sales Manager at Sierra Pacific Industries, dancing with Chase Kinney

And for the first time, contestants Dr. Paul Davis and Leaha Hernandez won the full sweep of all three awards: Judge’s Choice, People’s Choice, and Overall Champion!

Special thanks to our event partners: Cascade Theatre, CME Photography, volunteers, hair stylists, makeup artists, emcees Maria Orozco and Chris Gomez, and judges Linda Bott, Michelle Marks, Natasha Anderson, and Patrick John, and Kathy Babcock and the Step By Step School of Ballroom Dance.

Thank you to our amazing 2023 sponsors!
